The trigeminal nerve is the fifth nerve of 12 pairs of cranial nerves in the head. The main function of this nerve is to providing sensation to the face. When there is an excess pressure that occurs on the nerve this will lead to an intense, stabbing, electric-shock likes pain to the individual. It usually affects people above 50 years of age. The incidence of this disease is higher in women than in men.
In Ayurveda, it is termed as ?Ananta Vata?. According to Acharyas, Vata dosha alone or Vata along with Kapha dosha when gets aggravated seizes half of the head and causes severe pain in the head, near eyebrows, temple region, and around ears.
