APPENDICITIS AND ITS AYURVEDIC TREATMENT

INTRODUCTION
Appendicitis is medical disease which is characterized by the inflammation of the appendix. Appendix is a small tube-shaped structure attached to the large intestine. It is a vestigial organ which has no function in digestion or any other function. But when due to blockage or infection of the appendix, there occurs inflammation of the appendix. The appendix swells and can burst, if not removed surgically. Pain in lower abdomen is the main symptom of appendix.
A burst of appendix is a medical emergency. It leads to spreading of bacteria from the large intestine into the abdominal cavity. The condition is known as peritonitis. The infection spreads into the blood stream and can spread throughout the body causing life-threatening complications. This infectious condition is known as sepsis. So it involves surgical removal of appendix (appendectomy).
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF APPENDICITIS?
Appendicitis is caused due to blockage of the appendix. When the bacteria multiply rapidly, there occurs inflammation of the appendix. It gets swollen and filled with pus. The other reasons which are responsible for appendicitis are:
- Presence of hard, calcified fecal deposits known as fecaliths. They get stuck in the opening of appendix and can lead to trapping of bacteria in it.
- Increased cellular production of lymphoid tissue in appendix
- Suffering from inflammatory bowel disease – the inflammation spreads from the intestine to the appendix
- Cystic fibrosis
- Tumors
- Parasitic infection of the appendix
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF APPENDICITIS?
Following are the common signs and symptoms of appendicitis:
- Severe and sudden pain on the right side of lower abdomen
- Nausea and vomiting
- Decreased appetite
- Pain increases during cough, walking, etc
- Pain first starts around navel and then shifts to the right abdomen
- Low grade fever
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Bloating
- Feeling tired
- Increased formation of gas
- Increased frequency of urination
WHAT ARE THE COMPLICATIONS OF APPENDICITIS?
Appendicitis if not dealt properly or at time can lead to severe health complications:
- Formation of abscess in appendix leading to development of pus pocket inside it
- Rupture of appendix
- Ischemia and necrosis of appendix tissue
- Perforation
- Formation of gangrene
- Peritonitis
- Septicemia
MANAGEMENT OF APPENDICITIS WITH THE MEDICATIONS OF CHANDIGARH AYURVED CENTRE
Here are some of the medications of Chandigarh Ayurved centre which are used for the treatment of appendicitis:
1. Sheet Dhara Syrup
This herbal syrup is prepared from ingredients such as ajwain satav, mushak kapoor, peppermint, etc that naturally relieve the symptoms like bloating, blenching, nausea, vomiting, feeling of discomfort, etc. The regular use of this herbal syrup neutralizes the high acid content, reduces
