Introduction: Gout is a type of Arthritis which is very painful. It is a metabolic disease in which the uric Acid metabolism is hampered. Body has an excess amount of Uric acid , hyperuricemia that may be deposited in the form of sharp crystals in the big toe or other joints causing episodic pain and swelling called gouty attacks. There is a feeling that your foot is on fire with sudden and intense pain during the episodes of gout. Between the episodes the person remains asymptomatic. Sometimes it remains asymptomatic completely despite having high blood uric acid.
AYURVEDIC SAY: Hyperuricemic condition in Ayurveda is known as “VATARAKTA”. It is very much clear by the name, there is vitiation of Vata dosha and Rakta Dhatu. When a person takes excessive food and lifestyle that aggravates vata dosha and rakta dhatu. Vitiated rakta dhatu blocks the passage of vata dosha and interferes in the movement of vata.. This vitiated vata dosha further contaminates the rakta or blood. This vitiated rakta by vata dosha gravutates down the foot causing severe pain in the foot and joints. This amalgam of vitiated Vata and Rakta is called vata rakta.
