OVERVIEW
Endometriosis is a female reproductive disorder in which endometrial layer is present outside the uterus. Endometrium is the innermost lining of the uterus. It becomes thick during each menstrual cycle, then breaks down and bleeds out during each menstrual cycle. In endometriosis, this tissue grows in fallopian tubes, ovaries and pelvic wall. The tissue can be found beyond the pelvis also. The tissue lining the uterine cavity flows outside the body during menstrual bleeding but the tissue present in the other organs becomes trapped.
