  • Every season comes with its own set health conditions. It doesn’t matter if the weather is shifting from autumn to winter or from spring to summer; you will have to prepare for every kind of health condition like allergies, infections, skin problems, hair problems and many other problems.
  • One of the best ways to get ready for new season and to avoid health conditions is to modify your diet and life style according to the season. Life style should be season specific and this is known as ritucharya in Ayurveda. In ayurvedic texts various diet and life style regimens has been prescribed according to the ritu to sustain a healthy life.

Ritucharya for every season

  • As one of the main and foremost purpose of the Ayurveda is to maintain the health of the healthy person and for this various regimens has been prescribed in Dincharya (daily routine) and ritucharya ( seasonal routine). Some health conscious people may have strict daily routine , people most often forget about having seasonal routine.
  • The basis of ritucharya depends upon the dual regulation of the diet and the life stlye according to the season. This help your body to quickly adapt the season and prevents from seasonal infections or diseases that are affecting your body.

Diet and life style changes in winters

This year winters are a little different than the rest. The usual chills of the season combined with the threat of COVID-19 can throw anyone into relentless panic.  In this everyone is prone to many kind of infections or allergies like sneezing, cough & cold, flu etc. All influenza like illnesses are not COVID-19 but due to same symptoms everyone may get anxious about this.  So to prevent this situation and to protect your body from these ailments necessary precautions should be followed. Such as

  • Wearing a mask,
  • Maintaining social distance
  • Avoid crowded spaces.
  • Avoid frequent travelling.
  • Boost up your immunity.

Diet regiment in winters

Healthy Diet: Taking healthy and balanced  diet is the most important single factor for maintaining health  while unhealthy food is important factor for causing   disease.

  • Foods that are madhur (sweet), amla(sour),lavan (salty) in taste should be preferred in this season.
  • Intake of pulses, cereals , rice , grains, wheat flour , new rice , ginger , garlic , jaggery , milk and milk products are good for health.
  • Warm, nourishing and properly cooked meals are good for this season as they help to keep you warm and energetic.
  • Many spices like Pepper, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Clove and Turmeric are good to take.
  • Dry fruits and seeds should be taken. Sunflower seeds, Flaxseeds, Pumpkin seeds, Almonds, Pine nuts, Peanuts and Walnuts can be used.
  • Cow’s Ghee should include in your diet as it will to balance the vitiated vata dosha and it also provide the required nourishment to the skin.
  • Taking Amla juice on empty stomach is recommended.
  • Dairy products like cow milk, butter, ghee and edible oils are should be taken.
  • Easily digestible foods should be taken in moderation.
  • Include honey in your diet.
  • Warm soups should be consumed regularly.
  • Healthy fruits and vegetables like apple, pumpkin, Amla, fig, lemon, raisins, spinach, carrots etc. should be taken.
  • Drink warm water throughout the season.
  • Consume sugar cane juice and sugar cane as these provide abundant energy and minerals.

Don’ts

  • Overeating should be avoided.
  • Packaged, Unhealthy foods like fried or junk foods, carbonated drinks, sprouts etc. should be avoided.
  • Avoid excess pungent, bitter and astringent food. These can increase vata dosha and appetite, which is not suitable for the season.
  • Avoid excessive sweet and cold foods, like ice creams, smoothies, and chilled cold drinks , milkshakes etc.

Other factors should kept in mind

Water: As in winters we don’t feel thirsty so we tend to forget drinking water. But drinking water is very essential as water is the carrier of nutrients in our body and helps in detoxification of the body.  So it is important to drink 2-3 liters of water a day.

Hygiene: Regular bathing is important to keep the skin healthy and nourished. Proper hygiene should be maintained. Wash your hands after coming back from somewhere or before cooking or eating food.

Skin: In winters skin becomes dry, cracked even after applying lotions and oils throughout the day. So to protect your skin from this condition apply coconut oil or any other moisturizer. It can be applied after bathing as during this time your skin absorbs the oil. So skin care is must in winters application of moisturizer, sun-protection creams should be done.

Sleep: A proper, Good, restful, quality sleep is very important as it helps in boosting our immune system by repairing the wear and tear of the body and mind. A good sleep of 6-8 hours is required for everyone.

Vitamin D: It is very important to take Vitamin D. As Vitamin D not only helps in keeping the bones healthy but also regulates the mood. In seasonal affective disorder that is commonly seen in western countries reason is lack of sunlight and people would like to stay indoors. So always sit in sunshine for some time to avoid any deficiency.

Clothing: Always warm, woolen, comfortable clothes should be wearing to protect you from cold.

Agoraphobia – How to cure it Naturally

Agoraphobia which should not be considered agoraphobia, is a condition where the victim becomes distraught in an environment that is unfamiliar to him or where the victim feels that he or she does not have control in their hands. Activating this anxiety can include wide open spaces, crowds (social anxiety), or travel (even short distances). Agoraphobia is often associated with fear of a social problem, but not always, as agoraphobic fear begins with panic attacks and distress in the public. It is also sometimes called ‘social agoraphobia’ which can be a type of social anxiety disorder sometimes called ‘social phobia’.

However, not all agoraphobia is social. Some people with agoraphobia have fear of open spaces. Agoraphobia is defined as “a phobia, sometimes a terrible phobia, by those who have suffered one or more panic attacks.” In such cases, the victim is afraid of a particular place, as he had experienced a panic attack at the same place last time. To avoid having to face another panic attack, the victim becomes frightened or refrains from going to that place.

This type of victim is now considered to have agoraphobia. Sometimes victims may try in every way to avoid the place where the first panic attack was encountered. Agoraphobia, as described in this manner, is actually a professional symptom check at the time of diagnosis of panic disorder. Symptoms such as extreme affective compulsive disorder or post-traumatic stress disorder can also be due to agoraphobia, basically any unfounded fear that prevents a person from going out can cause symptoms.

The first level agoraphobia involves an imaginary fear or a real panic attack as a result of a journey beyond the normal perimeter of an area where it lives, such as a large city or country.

Second level agoraphobia involves an imaginary fear or a real panic attack as a result of a journey beyond the normal perimeter of a neighborhood or residential district where it lives.

Third level agoraphobia involves an imaginary fear or a real panic attack as a result of going outside the boundaries or premises of one’s residence. Most of the victims of this category are able to walk outside the verandah, balcony, terrace, courtyard or courtyard, but the third level minority victims are afraid to go out of it.

It is also not uncommon for a person with second-level and third-level agoraphobia to suffer from Temporal Separation Anxiety Disorder especially when other members of that household move temporarily, such as parents or spouses. Or a person suffering from agoraphobia is alone at home. Such temporary situations may result in increased anxiety or panic attacks.

Another public association disorder of agoraphobia is the fear of death – the fear of death.   • The person suffering from this problem may get nervous about facing any social situation related to their surroundings. Such people usually get nervous going to places like crowded places like shopping malls, party, cinema hall or railway station.
  • Such people are also very afraid to travel short distances. In such situations it is natural for the common people to get a little nervous, but the person suffering from this problem always avoids visiting such places. Dryness of the throat, heartbeat and increased speed of breath, excessive sweating and cold hands and feet are the main symptoms in crowded places.
  • Even people suffering from this problem faint in crowded places due to nervousness. This problem is also related to the separation anxiety to some extent. That is, there is no magic rate as the children feel that they will be separated from their parents.
  • In this, the person makes close people or the surrounding environment his security shield and is not ready to get out of it under any circumstances.

As a result, individuals suffering from agoraphobia avoid public and or unfamiliar places, especially in large, open, empty spaces, such as shopping malls or airports, where there are few places to hide. In many cases, the victim may be confined to his or her home, where he or she experiences difficulty moving elsewhere from this safe place. In most cases there is a fear of public places. What are the solutions?

Most people who go to mental health specialists develop agoraphobia after the onset of fear disorder (American Psychiatric Organization, 1998). Agoraphobia can be better understood as an adverse behavioral outcome of a scary attack each time, and the subsequent anxiety and preoccupation with these attacks tends to avoid situations where a horrific attack is likely to occur. There is more public panic in women, almost the level of agoraphobia that occurs in men is almost double in women. Although no proper explanation of this difference has been found so far in research and research results, it is still believed that women are more mentally in need of help from a partner, so they have more signs of the disease.

Treatment

Cognitive behavioral therapy

Exposure treatment can provide permanent relief to most patients with agoraphobia and panic attacks. The extinction of residual and subclinical agoraphobic segregation, rather than just panic attacks, should be the goal of exposure therapy. Similarly, systematic desensitization can also be used.

Relaxation techniques are often useful in people with agoraphobia, as they can be used to prevent or eliminate symptoms of anxiety and attack.

Psychiatric treatment

The most commonly used anti-depressant medications for the treatment of anxiety disorders are mainly in the category of SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and include sertaline, paroxetine, and fluoxetine. Benzodiazepine tranquilizers, MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants are also commonly prescribed for the treatment of agoraphobia. [Citation needed]

Alternative treatment

Eye movement desensitization and programming (EMDR) have been studied for possible treatment of a agoraphobia, but the results were not satisfactory. However, EMDR is recommended in cases where cognitive behavioral approaches prove ineffective or Cases where subsequent trauma develops in agoraphobia.

Sharing self-help tools along with exchanging problems and achievements with each other are common activities of these groups. In addition to stress management techniques and various types of meditation practice, psychodynamic techniques can help calm patients with anxiety disorders and increase the effectiveness of therapy. In the same way, one can be alienated from self-pity by acts of philanthropy which are seen with anxiety problems. Also, primary evidence has also been found that aerobic exercise can also have a calming effect. Since caffeine, some illegal drugs and some over-the-counter medicines can increase the symptoms of anxiety disorder, they should be avoided.

Agoraphobia can be better understood as an adverse behavioral outcome of a scary attack each time, and the subsequent anxiety and preoccupation with these attacks tends to avoid situations where a horrific attack is likely to occur. Benzodiazepine tranquilizers, MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants are also commonly prescribed for the treatment of agoraphobia. [Citation needed]

Eye movement desensitization and programming (EMDR) have been studied for possible treatment of a agoraphobia, but the results were not satisfactory. Amenorrhea, Symptoms, Causes and Herbal Treatment

What is Amenorrhea?

This problem is not related to irregular periods. However, it is not a disease, as it may be a symptom or sign associated with a medical condition that is possible to treat. Many women can miss more than 3 or 3 of their periods without becoming pregnant or menopausal, which is not a common practice. Absence of menstruation can indicate a variety of problems, including: thyroid problem, pituitary tumor, PCOS, etc. Additionally amenorrhea can also cause complications such as sterility or osteoporosis. Therefore, it is very important to treat it.

Types of amenorrhea

There are two types of amenorrhea, primary and secondary amenorrhea.

Primary amenorrhea– This means that the period has not started during puberty i.e. 15–16 years of age. According to the National Institutes of Health, there is a need to consult a doctor if periods do not begin until the age of 16. Although primary amenorrhea is rare.

Secondary amenorrhea– This is when the menstrual period does not come for 3 consecutive months after the normal period cycle starts. It is common during pregnancy and breast feeding, but it also indicates that there is some health problem.

What causes amenorrhea?

In many cases, doctors are unable to find the cause of primary amenorrhea. However, possible reasons for this include-

  • Problem with ovary
  • Problems with the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) or puberty gland
  • Problems with reproductive organs
  • Family history of late period, although sometimes it is due to genetic problem
  • Secondary amenorrhea occurs due to problems with the puberty thyroid gland. These produce hormones necessary for gland periods.

The causes of secondary amenorrhea include:

  • obesity
  • Lose a lot of weight
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Too much exercise
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Malnutrition
  • anorexia nervosa
  • Problem in thyroid gland
  • Use of any kind of medicine
  • Removal of uterus and ovary
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Stress or depression
  • Apart from this, taking, stopping or changing birth control pills also has an effect on the period cycle.

Symptoms

Its main symptom is the absence of menstruation. Depending on the cause of amenorrhea, you may experience other symptoms such as:

  • Hair fall
  • Change of vision
  • More facial hair
  • Milk discharge from the nipple
  • Headache
  • Pelvic pain
  • Acne
  • Reduced breast development in primer amenorrhea.

What is the diagnosis of amenorrhea?

Before the test of amenorrhea, the doctor will ask you many questions like-

  • What age did you have periods
  • Chances of pregnancy
  • Have you lost or gained weight, or what kind of exercise do you do?
  • How long does your period last and how much or less bleeding happens

Amenorrhea is not a disease, but a symptom of a disease. Therefore, the doctor tries to find out the reasons for not having periods. For this, the doctor performs several tests:

Lab test– There are several types of blood tests, including-

Pregnancy test, thyroid function test, ovary function test, prolactin test, male hormone test etc. The first test is done by a doctor when a period is missed. Other tests are done when it is negative.

Hormone Challenge Test– For this test you are given hormones pills for 7 to 10 days so that the periods come. This test shows that there is no deficiency of estrogen hormone due to absence of periods.

Imaging Test – After blood test and hormone test, one can recommend imaging test based on symptoms of amenorrhea, including ultrasound, CT scan, MRI, scoop test etc.

Environmental factors and our changing lifestyle also causes Amenorrhea, which includes- Chronic diseases (for example, Tuberculosis), Recreational drug abuse, Excessive stress, Malnutrition, Excessive weight gain or weight loss, Anorexia, Cycle suppression with systemic hormonal contraceptive pills, etc.

What is hernia?

A bulging of a tissue or organ through an abnormal opening. When any part of the body comes out of its place, that condition is called hernia. Typically, a hernia involves the stomach, intestine or femoral region.

Symptoms include a bulge, swelling or pain. In some cases, there are no symptoms.

If this problem is not resolved in time, then the situation can become worse and in such a situation surgery is the only option left for it.

What are the types of hernia?

There are mainly 3 types of hernia, which are as follows-

  • Inguinal hernia – This is the most common type of hernia, which is also known as inguinal hernia. It mainly occurs in the thigh joint.

In this, the intestine slips into the testicles with the help of a thin tube of the testicles and there is swelling in the testicles.

  • Femoral hernia-Femoral hernia mainly occurs when the abdominal organs move out of the artery going from the thigh to the leg.

Men are more affected by this hernia.

  • Umbilical hernia– It is also known as Umbilical Hernia. As the name itself suggests, this type of hernia is mainly related to the umbilical cord, which arises in the event that the weakest muscles of the abdomen exit the navel.
  • Epigastric hernia: This hernia is in the center of the navel and ribs.
  • Pubic Hernia (Familial Hernia)-This type of hernia occurs in only 20% of the total cases, which is more for women than men. This is a fairly uncommon type of hernia. It sometimes appears in the inner upper part of the thighs or groin. It emerges back when you lie down, but it can come back due to cough and any kind of pain.
  • Incisional hernia – this type of hernia can occur after abdominal surgery. Your intestines may come out of the incision or through surrounding, weakened tissue.

How does hernia occur?

Hernia can be mainly due to these 6 reasons, which are as follows-

  • Weakening of abdominal muscles– When a person’s abdominal muscles become weak, they can cause hernia.
  • Chronic cough– If a person has been coughing for a long time, he should get it checked as soon as it can be a sign of a hernia.
  • Being overweight– A person who is overweight is more likely to have a hernia. That is why he should try to reduce the weight.
  • If he is not getting relief from this problem despite all the efforts, then bariatric surgery or liposuction surgery can prove useful for him.
  • Excess of age – A person who is more than 60 years of age is more likely to have a hernia because in this stage the muscles of his body become very weak and they emerge.
  • Having a disease– If you have a disease like kidney or liver disease, you may have a hernia problem.
  • Therefore, you should get kidney dialysis or kidney transplant in time so that you can avoid this problem.
  • Constipation – A person who has constipation, may have this problem.

What are the symptoms of hernia in men?

Like any other disease, there are some symptoms of hernia, which, if given due attention in time, can prevent the disease from growing.

  • Swelling on the stomach– Hernia begins with swelling on the abdomen. However, swelling occurs on the same part of the abdomen, where the muscles become weak.
  • Unclean stomach – Unclean stomach can be a compelling sign of hernia, so an attempt should be made to correct this symptom.
  • Bleeding in the stool– Many times blood comes in the stool due to hernia. In this case, the person should see a doctor immediately and have a hernia check.
  • Chest pain– Many people have chest pain due to this problem. Therefore it is prudent that this symptom be taken seriously if it is taken seriously.
  • Pain in the upper abdomen– If a person has pain in the upper abdomen, then it can be a sign of hernia.
  • Vomiting– Although vomiting is not taken seriously, vomiting can also be a symptom of hernia.
  • Trouble walking or sitting

Hernia stage

There are some stages of hernia:

  1. Reducible: In these, the organ exits, then enters. Many times they put their hands in. This level can work even without surgery. You can plan and get surgery.
  2. Irreducible: In this, the organ does not enter after exiting the cavity. After this operation is necessary. Operation is to be done soon.
  3. Strangulated: If the intestine gets stuck inside and stops melting, then there is an emergency and operation is necessary within 6 hours. This condition is usually accompanied by a small hernia, which is trapped by dropping out. In such a situation, it is better to have the operation done while remaining small in hernia size.

Ayurvedic treatment for HERNIA

Description

  1. Triphala Guggulu Tablet:

Triphala Guggulu Tablet (3 fruits) tablet is a herbo mineral of size 650 mg and is a purely ayurvedic formulation.  It is a polyherbal formulation comprising of three ingredients. Each fruit is thaught to positively impact the body’s three doshas. It has been used in ayurvedic medicine since ages. It is thought to support bowel health and aid digestion. Kanchnaar guggulu has anti-bacterial, analgesic, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory properties that subside the symptoms of BPH quickly and is very beneficial for weight loss, any type of cyst, thyroid, etc. Each tablet consist of Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Elaichi (Elettaria cardamomum), Maricha (Piper longum), etc.

Recommended Dosage – Take 1 tablet twice daily with normal water.

  1. Detox Tablet:

This Tablet is herbo-mineral pure Ayurvedic preparation.
